I know three people with the NZ map tattooed on their bodies; people wear t-shirts with the map on; and it frequently appears in logos. It is a mark of identity that people are proud to associate themselves with. This is in direct contrast to my native UK. Overtly advertising an affinity with the British Isles just would not occur to most people.
